Safety Pharmacology Service

Safety Pharmacology Service

Protheragen-ING Lab specializes in providing pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and academic institutions with comprehensive safety pharmacology research solutions dedicated to ensuring the safety and efficacy of new drug candidates throughout the development process. We utilize advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment to provide high-quality safety pharmacology services. Our pharmacology technology platform includes cutting-edge instrumentation, data analysis tools, and proprietary methodologies that enable us to generate accurate and reliable results.

Significance of safety pharmacology research

Safety pharmacology studies play a vital role in the drug development process. It involves evaluating the potential adverse effects of a drug on various organ systems, providing important insights into its safety. By identifying and evaluating potential toxicity early in the development process, safety pharmacology studies help reduce risk and improve patient safety. These studies are critical for regulatory approval and are an integral part of the overall drug development strategy.

In vitro pharmacology services

We offer a wide range of in vitro pharmacology services in several therapeutic areas. Our state-of-the-art technology platform enables us to perform detailed evaluation of drug candidates using human-derived cells and tissues. Comprehensive solutions include target validation, optimization of biochemical, cellular, and selective screens, establishment of disease-related secondary assays, and implementation of biomarker strategies.

Our in vitro pharmacology services cover a variety of therapeutic areas, including but not limited to:

  • Cardiovascular Safety Pharmacology: Evaluating the effects of drugs on cardiac function, electrophysiology, and contractility.
  • Central Nervous System Safety Pharmacology: Evaluating the effects of drugs on neuronal activity, receptor binding, and neurotransmitter release.
  • Respiratory Safety Pharmacology: study the effects of compounds on lung function and airway smooth muscle.

In vivo pharmacology services

Our experienced team of scientists designs and conducts studies to evaluate the in vivo safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetic parameters of drug candidates. They have extensive domain knowledge in various animal models of disease and are able to obtain in vivo proof-of-concept in multiple therapeutic areas.

  • Disease Models: We use a variety of disease models including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, respiratory diseases, and metabolic disorders.
  • Animal species: Rodents (mice, rats), rabbits, dogs and non-human primates.
  • Drug types: Our services cover small molecule drugs, biologics, gene therapy drugs, natural medicines, vaccines and herbal medicines.
  • Routes of administration: Oral, intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous and inhalation.

Our pharmacology technology platform

  • Automated high-throughput screening (HTS) system - Rapidly screens large libraries of compounds against a variety of targets and assays, helping to identify potential lead compounds.
  • Advanced membrane clamp electrophysiology devices - Accurately measure ion channel activity and drug effects on cell membrane currents.
  • Fluorescence microscopy and imaging systems - Study cellular processes, visualize molecular interactions, and assess drug-induced changes in cell morphology and function.
  • Mass spectrometry - Measure drug concentrations in a variety of biological matrices, providing valuable information on the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) characteristics of drug candidates.
  • In vivo imaging systems - such as positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These imaging techniques allow non-invasive visualization and quantification of drug distribution, target engagement, and physiological changes in the organism.
  • Automated liquid handling systems - For efficient sample preparation, compound dilution, and assay setup, minimizing human error and improving reproducibility.
